Art Caplan asks this very question in his MSNBC column this week. When a wealthy recluse died at the age of 104, to whom did she leave her fortune? Her nurse (to the tune of $30M) and her doctor (a measly $100K). Did these providers somehow cross a boundary between the provider-patient relationship? Or does this simply reflect the bond between caregivers and patients?
